My mission is clear: make women feel that they can take on the world!
After having a baby I suddenly felt that I’d lost my identity – I no longer spent any time on myself, instead inhabiting a world of nappy changing and Peppa Pig. Even though I had always loved makeup, I rarely made time to put any on, and as a result just didn’t feel like me anymore. Even when I did carve the time out to sit at my dressing table, my old makeup no longer looked ‘right’ anymore and I was stuck in a rut. My confidence was at rock bottom. I decided to take this into my own hands and retrain as a makeup artist – and The London Makeup Artist was born. Through delving back into the world of makeup I was able to rediscover my confidence in a way that I hadn’t since before having a baby. Now I know that spending that time on myself is an important part of my day – it’s not about vanity, but self care.
Using the skills and experience I gained from my years as a secondary school teacher, I developed my makeup lesson packages which are now at the centre of everything I do – I love using my makeup skills to teach women how to feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. So many women feel that they lack the confidence and knowledge to use makeup to feel amazing, but makeup is about more than looking nice: it’s armour, it’s empowerment, it’s feeling like you can take on the world. More than that, makeup is a wonderful way to reclaim your identity. It’s so worth investing in yourself so that you can feel like the best version of you. That’s why I use the hashtag #faceongameon – because we all deserve to feel on top of our game every day.
